Summary:

In 2013 Karl Deisseroth and colleagues at Stanford published a new method to make intact tissue (in their case, neural tissue) optically transparent while maintaining compatibility with immunohistochemistry. The new method—CLARITY—offers researchers the ability to perform high-resolution imaging throughout the intact brain like never before. Understandably, many groups were eager to adopt the method; however (just like with any new technique), technical hurdles will be encountered along the way. The CLARITY forum is a great online resource for researchers using or attempting to use CLARITY in their work, as it allows users to exchange tips and useful knowledge related to the technique. Visitors to the site can browse the content by recent activity, by category, or by popular tags. The site has an active community of contributors, so it is likely that you’ll be able to find the information you seek.
