Single-cell RNA sequencing has emerged as one of the most important technologies for studying the transcriptome of individual cells at high resolution. One of the key tools in this space, Illumina’s particle-templated instant partition sequencing (PIP-seq), is already helping to unlock the biology behind neurodegenerative disorders and other diseases. Its sensitivity and resolution make PIP-seq particularly effective for studying RNA in individual cells to shed light on cell-specific regulation, splicing events, and gene expression.
This GEN webinar features a pair of presentations that explore how PIP-seq performs against alternatives and highlight applications of the technology to cellular reprogramming in neurodegenerative disorders. Illumina’s Robert Yamulla, PhD, will present unpublished data from a recent case study comparing the performance of Illumina single-cell RNA prep kits against other commercially available assays. He will share real-world insights into the speed, resolution, and cell capture efficiency of the technology across two cell types. After that, viewers will learn about recent research from the Wahlin lab (University of California, San Diego). Devansh Agarwal will share how scientists in his lab regenerated human retinal ganglion cell-like (RGC) neurons and used PIP-seq to classify more than 30 RGC subtypes at single-cell resolution, which is critical to understanding retinal regeneration in optic nerve disorders like glaucoma.
A live Q&A session followed the presentations, offering a chance to pose questions to our expert panelists.
