Oftentimes reading about something in static words and illustrations is not the best way to assimilate the information. Sumanas understands this and is committed to developing interactive educational materials for many scientific disciplines. Specifically, the organization’s website provides free access to animations that span eight disciplines: general biology, microbiology, neuroscience, astronomy, molecular biology, biotechnology, environmental science, and chemistry. These animations can be accessed from the “Animation Gallery” page. A small number of additional animations depicting events in the news can be found on the “Science in Focus” page. The animations are made in Adobe Flash and, while some require the Flash plug-in, many can be viewed alternatively on iOS devices. Noncommercial users can freely link to the animations as long as the links are to the HTML files (and not to the Flash or video files).
