Rating:
Strong Points: Lots of photos, good descriptions
Weak Points: Cumbersome navigation

Summary:

Whether you have a general curiosity for insects and spiders or are simply hoping to identify that scary-looking bug you found in your apartment, insectidentification.org will prove to be a useful site. This website contains a number of photos of insects and spiders, which are largely displayed across the top of the page as you click on individual entries (I hope you’re not squeamish). The homepage divides the catalog into different categories such as flies, earwigs, and centipedes, while also giving site visitors the option to browse the collection by U.S. State. Individual entries are brief but do manage to include information such as the common and scientific names of the species, as well as its taxonomy and general geographic distribution. Navigation on the site is a bit cumbersome, but it is still worth a visit.
