Invitrogen inked an exclusive license to cell proliferation assays based on click chemistry from Harvard University. Click-iT™ uses a catalyst to click together chemical groups not normally found in biology, explains Invitrogen.

“Click chemistry permits the labeling and detection of biological events that were previously impossible using standard methods,” says Augie Sick, vp and general manager of Invitrogen’s cellular analysis business unit.

The advancement in Harvard’s technology allows researchers to examine cell proliferation in parallel with other biomarkers, Invitrogen adds.

The company is assembling a portfolio of complementary intellectual property, Sick continues. Invitrogen has commercial licenses from the The Scripps Research Institute, University of California, Berkeley, NIH, and the California Institute of Technology.
