Asterand Bioscience said today it has acquired AdeptBio, a biobank organization that specializes in procurement of human tissue specimens, for an undisclosed price.
AdeptBio’s people and supply network will be incorporated into Asterand Bioscience’s existing custom procurement offering, the buyer said, resulting in an expanded global network of more than 80 collaborating donor institutions.
Asterand Bioscience says its individually-managed custom collection service allows it to deliver human tissues, biofluids, and accompanying clinical information most compatibly with specific experimental needs of the pharmaceutical and diagnostic community.

Asterand Bioscience provides human tissue and human tissue-based research solutions to drug discovery scientists. The company was formed in 2006 through the merger of Asterand (founded 2000), a human tissue biorepository and Pharmagene (founded 1996) a human tissue-based drug discovery company.
