Microbiome Gene Signature May Identify Early Stage Pancreatic Cancer

Scientists in Spain and in Germany identified a genetic signature of 27 microbiome organisms in stool samples that can identify people at high risk of PDAC. The researchers say that the high predictive value of the gene signature could serve as a biomarker to define people at high risk of the disease, and the signature panel might also represent a non-invasive method of diagnosing PDAC, irrespective of disease stage.
