Scientists at Brown University have described the cellular and molecular events that explain why certain groups, including the elderly and patients with preexisting medical conditions, have a higher risk of COVID-19 infection as well as the risk of severe side effects and death. A specific protein is a therapeutic target that mediates the effects of aging in COVID-19.
