SARS-CoV-2 Detection in Saliva Samples is Sensitive and Consistent

New findings from a team at Yale University suggest that saliva samples offer a more sensitive and consistent alternative to nasopharyngeal swabs for COVID-19 testing and should be considered as a viable alternative. Saliva samples, which are minimally invasive and can be reliably self-administered, could help alleviate COVID-19 testing demands. The findings support the need for immediate validation and implementation of saliva sampling for SARS-CoV-2.
