Researchers Shed Light on Genetic Switch in Melanoma

The CRTC family of proteins (CRTC1, CRTC2, and CRTC3) have been known to play a role in pigmentation and the skin cancer melanoma. Now researchers at Salk Institute report that the deletion of the protein CRTC3 affects pigmentation and melanocyte fitness. Their findings may lead to new treatments for melanoma.
