In Embryonic Stem Cells, Genes Link Pluripotency and Ease of Self-Destruction
Genome-scale loss- and gain-of-function screening has been used to identify genetic networks that govern both embryonic stem cell differentiation and programmed cell death. The link between these functions suggests that stem cells can self-destruct before they can compromise development.
