Monkeypox Drug Discovery: Antivirals Sought in Repurposing Effort

As monkeypox cases in the United States top 6,600 (25,800 globally), and the United States declares a public health emergency, some researchers are racing to discover new antivirals for treatment. Now, a group of researchers has identified three possible monkeypox drug candidates by screening approved-drug libraries using a monkeypox infection cell system. These results, which are not yet peer-reviewed, are posted in a preprint on bioRxiv.
