Newly reported research indicates that genetic variants associated with Parkinson’s disease are more common than scientists had previously believed. Investigators for the Parkinson’s Foundation-backed PD GENEration study—which reached its goal of 15,000 participants ahead of schedule earlier in 2024—found that 13% of study participants have a genetic form of PD.
