Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Innovation, New York State (NYS), and the New York Genome Center (NYGC) are launching JLABS @ NYC, thanks to $17 million in funding from NYS. The 30,000-square-foot facility will be located at the NYGC in SoHo (just two blocks from the Holland Tunnel), and will open in 2018.

J&J will soon host another QuickFire Challenge, open to biotech, pharma, medical device, and consumer health companies, with the winner receiving one year of residency at the new JLABS @ NYC.

This joint venture comes on the heels of the Cuomo administration’s $650 million initiative, aimed at bringing New York into the top tier of biotech hot spots.
