3D cell culture is emerging as an indispensable tool for drug discovery research. The ability to produce in vivo-like iterations from in vitro cultures is paramount for understanding fundamental cellular mechanisms, as well as in the development of efficacious therapeutics. Organoids and spheroids have become the primary model systems for most 3D cell culture applications, but they each have their own unique application advantages that make them successful for diverse research areas such as tumor microenvironments, neural cell development, and regenerative medicine.

In this GEN webinar, we will hear from two investigators who are employing organoids and spheroids in their respective research endeavors. Dr. Hervé Tiriac will tell us how his laboratory is tackling some precision medicine goals by studying patient-derived organoids for pancreatic cancer. Tangentially, Dr. Simone Sidoli will describe how his research team is utilizing spheroids to gain insight into chromatin dynamics.
