Drug Delivery System Crafted from Frog Nest Foam

For the first time, foam from the nests of a species of tropical frogs has been used as an improved drug delivery system. The unique physical and chemical properties of this stable and biocompatible protein foam could help deliver active pharmaceutical ingredients over prolonged periods and combat the rise of antimicrobial resistance. The researchers have recreated the foam in bacteria demonstrating that its production can be scaled up for manufacture.
