Loss of Pleasure Linked to Early-Onset Dementia Not Alzheimer’s, New Study...

A new study from scientists at the University of Sydney, Australia, shows early-onset dementia or frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is strongly associated with a loss of ability to experience pleasure whereas Alzheimer’s disease is not. The researchers use whole-brain morphometric analysis to show decreases in grey matter in the orbitofrontal and anterior cingulate cortices, the insula and the striatum that are unique to FTD.
