The growing importance of biobanks to research cannot be overstated. This is accompanied by increasing pressure for biobanks to deliver high-quality samples and go beyond just simply knowing sample locations. The informatics systems need to keep pace with the biobanking domain that is growing and evolving at unprecedented speed. Biobanks that are still using spreadsheets, paper records, and handwritten storage tubes will be at a great disadvantage. In order to be more efficient, compliant, robust, and portable, biobanks have put increased emphasis on ensuring more effective and robust management of sample and data information while ensuring data integrity. Due to the rapid growth, biobanks are also evaluating how they can increase their efficiency across multiple areas, and this has led them to focus on leveraging innovating technologies. Thankfully, technology has become advanced enough that it can now be implemented to make many parts of lab work exponentially more efficient.

This GEN webinar will focus on two key areas—how implementing a sample and workflow management system can have a major impact on biobank’s efficiency. Concomitantly, how integrating these sample management systems with other technologies used by biobanks such as freezers and readers for tracking samples can create even greater value in the solutions biobanks have to offer.

A live Q&A session followed the presentations, offering you a chance to pose questions to our expert panelists.
