Single-Use Biomass Sensor

Single-Use Biomass Sensor

Aber Instruments has introduced its new Futura neotf single-use biomass sensor. The new sensor designed for use with Thermo Scientific single-use bioreactors allows accurate process fingerprinting for online monitoring and control of cell culture to support seamless scale-up with biologics and vaccine manufacturing. The company claims the sensor measures biomass online every four seconds, is sample-less, enables walk-away analysis, and collects real-time data without removing samples from the bioreactor. When using the fingerprints from the sensor, scientists can maintain the process parameters and quality attributes of their biologics and vaccines from batch to batch while using data from the device for advanced control, including determining optimum cell harvest or virus infection times, improving product yield and quality, and reducing the cost of goods.
