The Pharos V8 is a laser PCR (polymerase chain reaction) instrument powered by pulse-controlled amplification (PCA) technology. It features ultrafast nucleic acid amplification and microcyclers that are immersed in solution and serve as miniature thermal hubs. Rapid energy pulses control speed, resulting in ultrafast PCR reaction times. The Pharos V8 can generate PCR results in 10 minutes or less, on an easy-to-use interface. The system also features a universal DNA kit for lab-developed tests (bacterial, human genomic, and viral DNA) in both single and multiplex formats. The company recently completed successful laser PCR tests for Ebola RNA virus and is developing a MRSA test.
