The scale-X™ single-use fixed-bed bioreactor portfolio is designed for automated, scalable bioprocessing of viral vaccines and vectors. A novel spiral-wound fixed-bed structure enables high cell density in a small footprint (volume) with homogeneous distribution and ultra-low shear media circulation. Users can scale processes seamlessly across the portfolio with various diameters (hydro, carbo, nitro) offering production capacity from bench to batch. The system has between 10 m² and 30 m² of available growth surface and is well suited for R&D to clinical production. Constant linear velocity of fluids and even distribution through the fixed-bed ensure smooth scale-up, whereas bubble-free aeration mechanisms provide high gas mass transfer coefficient while minimizing stresses.
