AMSBIO

This new Chondroitinase ABC enzyme (purified from Proteus vulgaris) degrades CSPGs (Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycans; which are involved in the inhibition of axon regeneration following various forms of nerve damage) and has been shown to promote functional recovery and neural regeneration in addition to its role as a tool in glycoanalysis. The enzyme catalyzes the removal of Chondroitin Sulfate and Dermatan Sulfate side chains of proteoglycans, and is highly specific for glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chains without activity on core proteins, keratan sulfate chains, and heparin/heparan sulfate chains. Chondroitinase ABC can be used for in vivo/vitro models of CNS damage/repair (perineuronal net removal and neural regeneration), glycoanalysis, and disc degeneration and discogenic low back pain (LBP) models.
