Summary:
The National Endowment for Science, Technology, and the Arts (NESTA) is a U.K.-based organization with the primary aim of stimulating and encouraging innovation to fuel economic and social programs, and they have the money necessary to bring this about. With an aim to funding early-stage businesses, £18,000,000 in the last reporting year, NESTA appears poised to bring about some interesting changes in British society. Starting with a strong focus on low-carbon emissions, NESTA is not your average entrepreneurial endeavor. You have to love the statement they make in an article entitled “The Creativity Gap”—“We need to nurture the natural creative innovator in all children and then ensure it is protected, nourished, and stimulated into adult life, rather than being extinguished by many aspects of our current approach to education.” Amen. More power to this socially conscious investment group.
