Summary:
If growing fruit in your backyard is a passion of yours, the Home Orchard Society page is right up your alley, to sort of twist a metaphor. Subtitled Growing Good Fruit at Home, the site aims to be “the best source of information and knowledge, mixed in the context of like-minded friendships, to make fruit growing an enriching experience.” Towards this end, the site contains articles on fruit growing, a quarterly newsletter titled “Pome News”, and an amazingly active and informative forum with articles home gardeners will love. My favorites were Mystery Apple #76, Dwarf Fig Starts, and About Papaya. Posting questions/answers in the forums requires free registration, which is a reasonable compromise. If you’re interested in getting in on this informative set of discussions, I’d recommend registering in a minute. It could be the best thing you’ll do for your fruit crop.
