Move will provide firm with foothold in Australia and New Zealand.
VWR International inked an agreement to acquire EBOS Group’s scientific distribution businesses. The companies to be acquired, which distribute general laboratory supplies and life science products in Australia and New Zealand, include Quantum Scientific, Crown Scientific, and Global Science & Technology Limited.
The businesses have primary facilities in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia, as well as Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. The companies supply customers in the industrial, pharmaceutical, hospital, and university sectors. Annual revenues are approximately $40 million.
“This acquisition is an important step in our effort to expand our global footprint while providing a base of operations in both Australia and New Zealand,” Eddy Wu, VWR senior vp and president, Asia Pacific, explained. “We are looking forward to expanding our team with a group of very talented associates who we expect will make an immediate impact on future growth.”
VWR International reported worldwide sales in excess of $3.5 billion in 2009.
