QIAplex-based reagents will be leverage on Osmetech’s eSensor XT-8 diagnostic platform.

Osmetech signed an agreement with Qiagen to develop an in vitro diagnostic test for respiratory infections.

Osmetech will adapt Qiagen’s QIAplex-based respiratory viral test for use on its eSensor XT-8 molecular diagnostics system. Qiagen will supply QIAplex-based reagents for the multiplex amplification of the most common viruses associated with respiratory infections.

Qiagen recently launched the QIAplex-based ResPlex II respiratory panel for research use only. It allows for detection of up to 17 different viral molecular targets.

Osmetech intends to leverage this assay technology and develop a test for hospitals.
