A fertility clinic’s announced plans to allow parents to choose their children’s eye, hair, and skin color has created major controversy. So much so that the Fertility Institutes now says it will not be investigating the genetics of pigmentation of any body structures.
The Fertility Institutes’ U.S. director, Jeffrey Steinberg, M.D., says his program has already permitted thousands of parents to choose the gender of their children. A technology called preimplantation genetic diagnosis reportedly examines the genetic code of the embryo. It is the technique used to permit gender choice and was to be the method for custom designing kids based on eye, hair, and skin color. We would like your opinion on this revolutionary capability for creating children.
