A U.S. Senate health committee recently held a meeting on CRISPR technology noting that it has potential to transform human health. CRISPRs have applications in agriculture and in human and animal health. The committee also pointed out that the technique raises ethical issues involving potential changes in the human genome, creating designer babies, and in developing biological weapons.
