Daiichi-Sankyo purchased the Corning® Epic® System for drug discovery operations at its Kasai R&D Center in Tokyo. Corning reports that this purchase marks the entry of its microplate-based, label-free drug screening platform into the Japanese pharmaceutical market.


The Epic System is based on optical biosensor technology. The system performs biochemical and cell-based drug discovery applications. It also enables the observation of direct biological interactions not previously detectable in high-throughput applications, according to Corning.
