The size of poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) microparticles is of critical importance for polymer degradation and drug release rates. Current methods for the characterization of PLGA microparticle size provide only limited or no quantitative information or may overestimate size due to the presence of agglomerated particles. In this GEN webinar, we will learn current methodology for using Micro-Flow Imaging (MFI) to assess size and agglomeration of PLGA microparticles—since MFI is able to differentiate between fines, monospheres, and agglomerates based on particle morphology and quantify the number and volume fraction of each particle population. Additionally, we will find out how this information can be applied to the formulation and process development of PLGA microparticles and to monitor the physical stability of these particles after reconstitution.
