A sustainable business is one that engages in processes and manufacturing activities that address current environmental concerns while maintaining a profit. There is a rapidly growing community of professionals in academia, industry, policy, and government who have embraced this responsibility and are committed to advancing the preservation and sustainability of global resources.
On December 2 and 3 in Philadelphia, GEN will host “GREENbiopharma 2009” to explore the entire range of possibilities and technologies available for sustainable life science organizations and the economic rationales for implementing green strategies. Methods for making facilities, laboratories, and manufacturing more environmentally friendly will be explored.
Topics include conserving energy and water, reducing waste, recycling, solvent minimization, process design for sustainability, and the role of disposable bioprocess equipment in a sustainable facility.
Speakers will hail from leading pharma and biotech companies including Genentech, Merck, Agilent Technologies, Millipore, and Sartorius Stedim Biotech, and experts from prestigious academic institutions will present as well. These speakers will explain what has worked for them and the best ways to apply these strategies as a facility moves toward sustainability.
