Twitter may seem like an odd choice for a science app, but in fact the app has become a hub for scientific communication. Twitter is already well known as a social media platform, and the app itself is straightforward: Once you have an account, you can send out tweets, follow people, and scroll through your feed to see what people have said recently. The real use of Twitter comes from who you follow, and there is no shortage of great accounts to follow for the science-minded. Most major scientific journals are on Twitter and routinely tweet links to their latest publications. Additionally, many prominent scientists use the platform and tweet about research from their labs or general thoughts on current scientific topics. Twitter also makes it easy to connect with peers through hashtags and searches, making it a great tool for networking and exchanging scientific ideas for the modern era.
