Hematology Outlines Atlas

URL:https://apple.co/2kj9qHn
  • Large number of entries, good amount of content
  • Technical flaw prevents switching between sections of app
Platform: iPad/iPhone/Android
Cost: Free

With a list of content contributors bearing the titles of M.D., Ph.D., or D.O., the Hematology Outlines Atlas is a useful (albeit not the prettiest) resource for healthcare professionals and scientists within the field of hematology. The app comprises two sections. Within the glossary, app users will find many terms that are accompanied by brief text definitions and/or descriptions. Many entries also include histology images. The second component of the app, the atlas, consists of a visual depiction of the relationships among hematopoietic cells. Users can select different nodes of the diagram to reveal either brief text blurbs or additional entries. The app includes a lot of information and is a handy reference; however, a technical flaw in the app makes it impossible to switch between the glossary and atlas because the navigation buttons are hidden (at least on my device) by the device’s status bar.
