Rating:
Strong Points: Comprehensive resource on C. elegans
Weak Points: Some content is outdated (revision in process)
Summary:
An indispensable resource to researchers studying the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), WormBook is an online textbook composed of open-access, peer-reviewed chapters that cover various aspects of C. elegans biology. From the WormBook website, visitors can browse the 13 sections of C. elegans content that include genetics and genomics, neurobiology and behavior, and sex determination, to name a few. In addition to those sections, visitors will also find WormMethods—a compendium of experimental methods and protocols used in C. elegans research—and an additional collection of content chapters devoted to other nematodes beyond C. elegans. The news and notes section at the bottom of the page highlights recent additions. However, site visitors should be aware that much of the content contained within the original WormBook is several years old and a new version of WormBook is gradually being published by the journal GENETICS. A link to that revised (but partial) version is included on this site as well.
