Summary:

Trichinosis (or trichinellosis) is a rather unpleasant-sounding and sometimes-fatal disease caused by ingestion of the parasitic roundworm Trichinella spiralis. The Trichinella Page, an online resource from the Despommier laboratory at Columbia University, provides users with information about this nefarious nematode, including basic information about its biology, clinical importance, and history. Much of the information focuses (logically enough) on research findings from the Despommier lab over the years, though it is somewhat out-of-date at this point. The content of the site, while informative, is somewhat patchy in its coverage; for example, there is not really any description of what Trichinosis actually is. Beyond the text, the website also includes a sizeable image gallery of about 600 images of the worms and resulting pathology.
