September 1, 2009 (Vol. 29, No. 15)
Rating:
Strong Points: Nice collection of links to software, online analysis tools
Weak Points: Some of the links are broken
Summary:
PepSoc.com states that its goal is to bring together “like-minded” peptide societies. While I don’t know exactly what would constitute a “non-like-minded” peptide society, I do know that there are a lot of great resources on this site. In addition to the links to the six participating peptide societies’ homepages, there is a great deal of information to be found by clicking on the inconspicuous “link directory” tab. This brings up subgroups including “Resources” (such as educational links and protocols) and “Software” (a great collection of free, online peptide resources). Some of the links are broken—especially on the first page of the directory, which had me discouraged—but there are plenty of functioning resources, as well. PepSoc.com also offers the latest peptide news and meeting schedule, making it a great portal for amino acid aficionados around the globe!
