Strong Points: Easy to sing
Weak Points: Shameless reviewer

Every now and then I take the shameless step of reporting on a very popular feature on my own Web site—the Metabolic Melodies. These are a group of lyrics to popular songs I’ve written that are used for teaching biochemistry. Judging by my email, the songs have been used in classrooms all over the world. I “treat” my own classes to a new tune I write each term and the list of titles is growing rapidly. Currently there are 20 offerings. The most popular ones include “Biochemistry, Biochemistry”” (to the tune of “Oh Christmas Tree”), “B-DNA” (to the tune of “YMCA”), “Glucagon is Coming Around” (to the tune of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”), and a bunch of them set to Beatles tunes. By the way, I don’t make any money on these and provide the songs to the educational community in the interest of making biochemistry fun, as well as educational. Try them out on your classes and please let me know how they go. Thanks.
