Summary:

So admittedly, I approach any website whose title includes the words “world of science” with apprehension, bracing myself for what will almost certainly be a letdown. I am pleased to announce, however, that Eric Weisstein’s World of Science defied my expectations and lived up to its grandiose name. One of the many online resources by Wolfram Research, World of Science is actually a portal to five distinct pages: World of Scientific Biography, World of Physics, World of Astronomy, World of Chemistry, and MathWorld (all authored by internet encyclopedist Eric Weisstein). While I do not have space here to describe each site in detail, I can assure you that each is worth a visit (and in all likelihood, many visits). The websites are beautifully designed and easy to navigate, and each one contains a wealth of information on its respective subject.
