Rating:
Strong Points: Lots of content
Weak Points: Not focused

Summary:
Continuing in the theme of news/information/discussion, Biology Online provides an array of services, including a biology forum and a collection of hundreds of articles on topics spanning all of biology—for example, everything from physiology and botany to protistology and bioclimatology. There are about a dozen tutorials on topics like freshwater ecology and origins of life, though I didn’t see these to be a particularly strong point of the site. A dictionary is available and it is extensive. It’s also a little weird in that they count how many times each dictionary topic is accessed. Even weirder—what do you suppose is the most searched topic? Biology. How many people go to a biology page to find out what biology is? A well-organized directory provides links to outside sites. Overall, Biology Online is another of those sites with a lot of information, but I must quibble that its focus is not as strong as it could be.
