Rating:
Strong Points: General Information
Weak Points: Lack of specific gene info
Summary:
A common theme running through many of the sites this month is that of genomics, and the common initiative tying them together is the Program for Genomic Applications from the NIH(www.nhlbi.nih.gov/resources/pga/index.htm). Not surprisingly, as we learn more about genomes, many excellent sites are collecting information and applying it to diverse physiological systems. A case in point is Gene Express, from the American Thoracic Society. Focusing on application of post-genomic technologies to pulmonary medicine, Gene Express consists mostly of informative articles written on subjects that range from basic proteomics to getting microarray data published. I was rather dissapointed at the focus on general genomics and the apparent lack of specifics on genes of interest to pulmonary medicine. Hopefully this will be rectified in the future.
