Summary:

If you find yourself outside of the lab and struck by the presence of an unfamiliar butterfly or moth, then Leps by Fieldguide may be the app for you. The app is a collection of images of different species of butterflies and that have been uploaded by curious users. Clicking on an image brings up information about the organism’s taxonomy and life stage, and users can comment, like, and share these images. The app also allows users to contribute to the field guide by directly uploading their own images of butterflies or moths that they have come across. Leps by Fieldguide is an interesting take on the traditional field guide and provides beautiful images of these insects that are enjoyable to peruse.
