A useful reference for cardiologists and other medical professionals, the Echocardiography Atlas by Epocrates app includes a great deal of information related to cardiac pathology. Content is divided into twelve chapters, and these include topics such as the normal exam, mitral valve disease, cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart disease in adults. App users can choose to bookmark specific pages of information within each chapter. The app also includes a reference section comprised of tables of “normal values” reflecting various aspects of heart function. The majority of the content in the app consists of videos and imaging still-shots. (In fact, more text to accompany the multimedia resources would actually be useful.) As a nice study tool, labels on the photos can be either displayed or hidden.
