CRISPR-Cas9, from HHMI’s BioInteractive, allows users to take a closer look at this important system in a fun and interactive way. The app is divided into two sections that tell users both how CRISPR-Cas9 works, and also how it is used in the lab and its possibilities for use in therapeutics in the future. Users can view a model of CRISPR in action as they scroll through the steps through which the molecule goes as it attaches to and splices through DNA. The app also includes a number of video interviews with scientists using this tool who describe how they use it in the lab. The CRISPR-Cas9 app provides an excellent description of how this tool works and how it is used in a fun and engaging way.
