Association of Oncology Social Workers to Host Webcast on Financial Implications of Cancer Care

The Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW) invites you to a web briefing on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 to share results from a national survey of patients, caregivers and social workers about the financial burdens and resulting challenges of treating cancer and how this new research plays into recent health economic trends.

 
When: The program will take place via a web briefing on December 2nd from 12pm – 1pm EST.
 
Who:

Carolyn Messner, SW, MSW, LCSW-R, BCD, AOSW President - will discuss the role of social workers in helping to offset cancer costs and find resources for patients and their families

 

Mary Ann Burg, MSW, Ph.D., Social Work Oncology Research Group (SWORG) Director, AOSW - new statistics on the financial challenges of oncology care including the extent to which financial concerns impact compliance and the percentage of patients who suffered bouts of depression or anxiety due to treatment-related financial pressures.

 

Louis Garrison, PhD, Univ. of Washington, Health Economist, - will shed light on health economics as it relates to oncology
