San Antonio Named Finalist for Top Homeland Security Research Facility
PRNEWSWIRE
WASHINGTON, July 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a
statement by John Kerr, Chairman of the Texas Bio & Agro-Defense Consortium:
"We are proud that the Department of Homeland Security has selected Texas
Research Park in the city of San Antonio as a finalist for the National
Biological and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF). This distinction brings our city
one step closer to hosting this vital national security project. San Antonio
was among 14 consortia from across the nation to contend for the NBAF. Our
selection into this next phase is a result of San Antonio's current research
resources and scientific infrastructure and a collaborative effort from area
elected leaders, key state officials, and the overwhelmingly supportive San
Antonio/Bexar County community. We will also continue to inform and share our
efforts with the greater San Antonio community, and build support both in
Texas and Washington, D.C., to showcase the reasons we believe the NBAF would
be best served in San Antonio. Moving forward, we will work closely with the
Department of Homeland Security, and will continue to provide DHS with further
detailed information as they move through their decision-making process."
