Pieris Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

FREISING-WEIHENSTEPHAN, Germany, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Pieris Proteolab AG announced today the appointment with immediate effect of Evert Kuppers (37) as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Kuppers joins Pieris from IDEA AG, where he was Vice President and Head of Business Development. He played a pivotal role in the company's corporate development by securing the Johnson & Johnson partnership for its lead late stage clinical product. Prior to IDEA he worked in London, United Kingdom, for the global pharmaceutical / health care practice of AT Kearney, a management consultancy firm. Mr Kuppers acquired extensive operational experience during his four year tenure at BASF Pharma (now Abbott Labs.) for whom he also spent two years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, facilitating the establishment of its local businesses.

Mr Kuppers has a background in advanced biomedical sciences, having obtained extensive molecular biology research experience in the USA and The Netherlands, and an MBA degree from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
