Prasco Laboratories, a Cincinnati-based pharmaceutical company, announced today it has entered into a distribution and supply agreement with Graceway Pharmaceuticals, LLC. for an authorized generic version of MetroGel-Vaginal Gel (metronidazole vaginal gel, 0.75%). Prasco authorized generics are generic products manufactured by brand companies and marketed as generics under the Prasco label.
"We are extremely pleased to have established this marketing relationship with Graceway," said Prasco Chief Executive Officer E. Thomas Arington. "The Metronidazole product, like other Prasco authorized generics, benefits consumers by delivering brand quality at generic prices," Arington stated. Jefferson J. Gregory, Chairman and CEO of Graceway remarked "Prasco is an excellent and dynamic company and we are excited to have established this relationship with them."
Metronidazole Vaginal Gel is AB-rated and is indicated for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. "It is one of many authorized generics Prasco plans to launch in 2007 as we continue to strengthen our leadership position in authorized generics," said Arington. "Prasco authorized generics provide additional competition, which benefits the consumer through lower prescription costs," Arington concluded.
Prasco began shipping its authorized generic version of MetroGel-Vaginal Gel last week.
