The Labfors 5 BioEtOH bioreactor was designed for research and development in the lignocellulosic ethanol production sector. The production of ethanol from lignocellulose-containing raw material is a two-phase process. The Labfors 5 BioEtOH combines both steps in a single system. A second point of temperature measurement in the vessel jacket can prevent overheating on the inside wall of the vessel and keep the enzyme activity high. In the following step, the bioreactor provides cultivation conditions and bioprocess control. The Labfors 5 BioEtOH has been used with various pretreated materials such as wheat straw, bagasse, and spruce.
