The MEA 2 system for protein and nucleic acid purification is used for sample preparation in research laboratories. A benchtop-scale system with a 96-well format, the MEA 2 is designed to process up to 12 samples in parallel. In addition, the system uses affinity columns that consist of pipette tips containing resin immobilized between two inert frit screens. The back-and-forth flow through the columns is meant to provide a concentrating effect. Sample sizes can range from 10 µL up to 80 mL. A selection of column bed sizes and chemistries is available.
