Nucleic Acid Stain

LabSafe™ is a nucleic acid stain for the visualization of double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA, and RNA in agarose gels. The dyes are developed to replace toxic ethidium bromide, commonly used in gel electrophoresis for visualization of nucleic acids in agarose gels. LabSafe nucleic acid stain is noncarcinogenic by the Ames-test. It emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA and red fluorescence when bound to ssDNA or RNA. It also has two excitation wavelength peaks when bound to nucleic acid, at 290 nm and 490 nm.
